Boyd asks for trade to Dogs from Giants

ON another day of shock announcements in the AFL's trade period, Greater Western Sydney young gun Tom Boyd has told the Giants he wants to move to the Western Bulldogs.

Boyd, taken with selection No.1 selection at last year's draft, is regarded as a future superstar forward, the Giants responding to his request to be traded to the Dogs with a firm "he will not be traded".

But with Bulldogs captain Ryan Griffen saying just last week he wanted to play for the Giants, a trade could yet be possible by Thursday's 2pm deadline.

Meanwhile, Richmond has firmed as the favourite to secure the signature of former Melbourne captain Jack Trengove in exchange for pick 12.

That would give the Demons picks two, three and 12 at next month's draft, a package that could be used to lure a surperstar to the club.

Brisbane also confirmed it had exchanged selection 21 with Geelong for speedy forward Allen Christensen.
