Boy murder accused 'unfit for trial'

A 15-YEAR-OLD schoolboy accused of stabbing a 12-year-old student to death in the toilet block of their northside Brisbane school last year has been found mentally unfit to stand trial.

Supreme Court Justice Ann Lyons, presiding in the Mental Health Court in Brisbane, last month ruled the teenager was unfit to stand trial.

However, under Queensland law, details of her ruling could not be published for one month.

In her written judgment, made public today, Justice Lyons found that the 12-year-old victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, died as a result of stab wounds inflicted by a kitchen knife.

The young boy died from acute shock due to external and internal blood loss, she said.
