Boy 6, injured in crash still serious but stable

THE six-year-old boy injured in the crash on Pialba-Burrum Heads Rd is still in a serious but stable condition.

His condition has remained unchanged since Wednesday afternoon.

The child was flown to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in Brisbane with head, chest, pelvis and leg injury after the crash about 4pm on Tuesday.

A 28-year-old woman believed to be his mother was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital with minor injuries.

The sedan the pair was travelling in received significant damage.

It took firefighters about an hour to free the boy.
