Bowlers do job for SEQ

SOUTH East Queensland's Schaeffer Shield triumph was built on the team's impressive bowling, which dismissed both Wide Bay and Darling Downs City for under 150.

"All our bowlers bowled really well," SEQ bowler Ben Gibson said.

"That's what won it for us.

"Jarrod Darrach (2-12 and 1-12) is going to be a really good player."

The SEQ side is almost entirely the Ipswich Webb Shield team that has lost both its matches this season. But Gibson believes the weekend's performance is proof the group of players is making progress as a team.

"It's a credit to Scotty (coach Scott Barrett) and Lenny (manager Len Martin)," Gibson said.

"They picked a side (for the Webb Shield) and wanted to stick with it. It showed in our performances. We've been improving each game.

"To win the Schaeffer Shield with an almost all Ipswich side was a good effort."
