Severe storms rumble through south-east Queensland

6:20 PM THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for people in the Ipswich, Lockyer Valley and parts of the Logan, Somerset, Scenic Rim, Southern Downs, Toowoomba and Gold Coast Council areas.

At 6:05 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Boonah, the area north of Gatton and Millmerran. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast.

Damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones are likely.

They are forecast to affect Laidley by 6:35 pm and Ipswich, Beaudesert and Gatton by 7:05 pm.
