Boettcher tribute night at Archerfield this Saturday

THE inaugural Ian Boettcher 5000 Super Sedan event is to be hosted by Archerfield Speedway on Saturday night.

The event recognises the contribution the Ipswich business identity has made to the sport over the past five decades.

Boettcher's name is synonymous with speedway sedan competition.

The event is a tribute to his long and illustrious career as the principal behind a team that has produced multiple Queensland and Australian Championship victories, and a plethora of wins in blue ribbon events and other major championships around Australia, including the prestigious National Super Sedan Series.

A long-time supporter of speedway racing in a variety of capacities, Boettcher continues to make a significant contribution to Speedway through his generous sponsorship of speedway events and race teams.

He also assists the sport through his roles as a club administrator.

Competitors racing in the Ian Boettcher 5000 will qualify for the night's main event through a series of qualifying races with the winner of the 40-lap feature pocketing $5000 for their efforts.

The event includes Lightning Sprints, Wingless Sprints, ASCF Junior Sedans, Formula 500s, Stockcars and BIS Sedans.

Gates open from 4pm with early racing from 4.30pm and the main program from 6pm.
