Blood-stained bandage links teen to Ryther murder

A BLOOD-stained bandage links the teenager, charged with the rape and murder of a pregnant Logan woman, with his alleged victim, a court has heard.

The 18-year-old man was on parole, having been released from jail in March this year, when he allegedly attacked and killed Joan Canino Ryther less than a kilometre from her Mayes Avenue home.

The 27-year-old woman's body was found in the front yard of a Leichhardt Street house in Logan on May 21.

She was eight weeks' pregnant and was walking to the McDonald's restaurant where she worked when she was killed.

Lawyers  for the 18-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, applied for bail on his behalf in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Wednesday.
