Biggest Bachelorette mystery solved

THE jam-packed first episode of Sophie Monk's season as The Bachelorette posed a lot of big questions for bewildered viewers.

How does Sam keep his man-bun-comb-over in place? How on earth did Hayden pull his underpants off without removing his pants?

But it was perhaps the season's oddest contestant, Jourdan, who confused viewers the most. No, not because he burst into tears when Sophie asked if any of her suitors had been cheated on - only to admit between sobs that no, he hadn't. Nor when he told the other contestants that his ideal date would be "driving to nowhere, talking about nothing."

No, it was Jourdan's mid-episode limp that left viewers perplexed. There he was, striding out of the car to greet Sophie, both legs working capably. A few ad breaks later at the cocktail party, he was hobbling around like a man in need of urgent medical assistance.

Even his fellow contestants couldn't hide their confusion.

"All of a sudden, Jourdan starts hobbling up, which is really weird because he didn't have a limp at the start of the night," said Blake.

So what happened between the red carpet and the cocktail party that rendered him unable to walk properly?

See the official word from Warner Bros Australia, producers of the show:

"Jourdan was injured during downtime in filming while playing basketball with the boys at the mansion. After being medically assessed it was suggested that he wear a moon boot to protect the leg from further injury."

There you have it. A simple sports injury. Now on to the bigger question: WHY ON EARTH WAS THERE AN OTTER IN THE POOL?
