The big name coming to Boonah

THE pinnacle of the holiday season for Boonah is undoubtedly the town's annual Christmas parade.

With lasers, a pirate ship and plenty of food on offer, festival organisers managed to convince Santa himself to be the event's special guest on Thursday.

The Boonah Christmas Street Festival, organised by the Boonah District Chamber of Commerce and funded by local businesses and Scenic Rim Regional Council, will begin with a large parade of themed floats.

The festival will also include free rides, live entertainment, vintage cars, laser lights and disco balls, face painting as well as German and Scottish performances to honour the town's early settlers.

The annual Boonah Christmas Street Festival will be held this Thursday from 5:30pm-9pm.

Most of the action will be centered on High St, which will be closed off from 3pm, with activities also being held on Railway and Church Streets.
