School leavers wake to find out their university offer
SCHOOL leavers across the state will be waking up very anxious this morning to find out whether they were accepted into the degree, and university, of their choice.
The Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre's major offer round results are released at 9am today, and students will have until January 21 to respond.
Rockhampton's local tertiary educator, CQUniversity, has already made more than 1200 early offers to prospective students; a 9% increase from last year.
While CQUniversity's Rockhampton North campus will see the biggest share of on-campus students, the distance education program has still attracted the majority of students with 64% taking the option.
CQUniversity Vice-Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman said early offer figures were a good sign that regional students were seizing opportunities in their own communities.
"Our regions can celebrate these numbers... these young people are more likely to stay and use their skills in the local area," he said.
Further rounds of offers will be released during February, with the final round on March 1.
