Dingo pups learning hunting, survival skills so steer clear

VISITORS to Fraser Island have been warned to avoid contact with young dingoes and heed safety advice over the next two months, as dingo pups learn hunting and survival skills.

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service's Fraser Coast area manager Steve Price said September to October was the dingo whelping season, when dingo pups ventured out of their dens and explored their surroundings.

"Dingoes may be determined and aggressive in their search for food."
