WATCH: Bennett weighs in on Eel's cheap shot

PARRAMATTA forward Kenny Edwards escaped immediate punishment after an ugly hit in Friday night's game against Brisbane left fans outraged.

In the 37th minute of the match, Edwards' Eels teammate Nathan Brown clocked Jonus Pearson high which saw the Brisbane flyer hit the deck.

Edwards was then seen throwing a shoulder into a defenceless Pearson who lay dazed on the turf.

Broncos coach Wayne Bennett weighed in later.

"That's not a look that the game wants," Bennett told media.

"It's up to the game to do something about it, but that's not something the game wants."

Broncos skipper Darius Boyd also gave his thoughts.

"Obviously it doesn't look good," he said.

"It's pretty scary if he is concussed, and someone is coming down to hit him or tackle him again, it's dangerous."

After a week of debate over Sia Soliola's high tackle on Billy Slater which earned the Canberra forward a five-week suspension, there was plenty of attention on what referee Ashley Klein would do about Brown and Edwards.

While Brown was placed on report by Klein for the original tackle, Edwards' act was overlooked, something which fans didn't take to lightly.
