Ben is Bat, and I'm OK with that

THE internet is in melt down today.

Either someone typed Google into Google or there's a dispute over the choice of an actor in an iconic role.

Turns out it's the latter.

Ben Affleck has been cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the yet to be named sequel to Zack Synder's Man Of Steel - a reboot of the Superman franchise.

As a lifelong Batman fan this has a huge implications for me - I mean, he's going to be playing the character I've idolized my entire life.

Twitter  have reacted… in an interesting manner.

'Ben Affleck already butchered the Daredevil movie and now he's been cast as Batman??? Some men just want to watch the world burn.'

'Affleck going from Best Picture to Batman would be like Obama deciding that after his second term he would like to host The Tonight Show.'

But I'm OK with that.

Check out his recent body of work. He starred in and directed Argo, same with The Town, and (apparently) did a good job with Gone Baby Gone.

Sure, he sucked in Daredevil back in 2003, but that was 10 years ago!

He's moved on to bigger and better things since then, so I can forgive that.

I'd hate to be remembered what I did 10 years ago - after all I was in Year 10 at high school, everything I did was wrong.

We've all done work we've lived to regret.

Still, I can't help but feel passed over for the role.

I did audition for the role of Batman once- for Movie World back in 2009.

I sent in a photo of myself and a resume - I (may) have fudged some details on past acting and martial arts experience.

Whatever I did, it got my foot in the door.

Soon enough I was at Movie World, auditioning for the role of Batman.

I was in full business attire, this was an interview after all.

But apparently I missed the memo on exactly what we'd be doing in the 'interview'.

A few more guys showed up looking like they were heading to the gym - turns out I should have done the same.

After reading out a few Batman-like lines we were straight into martial arts demonstration.

This is where I fell apart - I blame the clothing I was wearing.

Business parts aren't right for pulling off Chuck Norris-like round house kicks.

Sadly enough I didn't get the job.

A tear may or may not have been shed that day.

But anyways, good luck to Ben Affleck.

He's living my dream, and I hate him only a little bit for it.
