Beat the heat with giant water slide this weekend

AFTER making a splash all around Queensland, The City Slider is set to offer thousands of Ipswich residents a chance to cool down in style.

The 325m-long water slide will sit right in the middle of the city on Griffith Rd, Eastern Heights, and will be open for 12 hours on Saturday.

Organiser Stuart Harris said the two-lane, six-metre wide slide, running from just outside the PCYC, down the hill and finishing at the corner of Milford St, will take a team of 20 people to set up.

"It's every child's dream to jump on a giant water slide. We've taken that idea to the extreme," he said.

"We've teamed up with the PCYC who will have a barbecue and drinks for sale on the day.

"I've been watching the weather and it's meant to be a sunny 27 degrees on Saturday so we should be in for a great day."

A free 25m long mini slide will also be available for the kids.

The day will be broken up into six 90-minute sessions, with room for 600 people per session.

Tickets cost $35 per person online or $40 on the day which includes inflatable ring hire and unlimited slides for 90 minutes.

Councillor Andrew Antoniolli said he hoped to bring The City Slider back to Ipswich every year.
