World University Games bow for Ipswich's Langford

IPSWICH Force and Australian Opals development player Emma Langford has added another honour to her long list of achievements.

Langford was yesterday named in the Australian team for the World University Games in Kazan, Russia, from July 6-17.

The national men's and women's squads include Australian Boomers and Opals stars.

Langford will make the journey to Russia, with the likes of Ryan Broekhoff and Cameron Bairstow leading the men's charge, and Marianna Tolo and Sara Blicavs headlining the women's push.

Under the stewardship of coach Phil Brown, the women's team will be aiming to continue their tradition of success at the World University Games. They have medalled at each of the past four events winning gold in 2007 and bronze in 2005, 2009 and 2011.

Australian Boomers head coach Andrej Lemanis has an exciting squad including five players with senior Boomers experience. They are Bairstow, Broekhoff, Igor Hadziomerovic, Jason Cadee and Clint Steindl.
