Bands join forces for Floodstock

FROM country to hard-core punk and heavy metal, Ipswich bands have put aside their musical differences to perform at Floodstock.

Organiser Donna Smith said proceeds from the music festival would go towards the Ipswich Mayor’s Flood Relief Fund.

“Floodstock is rock for recovery,” Ms Smith said.

“We have emptied belongings from mud-ridden houses, we’ve fed volunteers, we’ve housed those who needed it, next step is raising money to boost the local economy.”

Bands performing on Saturday in the Squealing Pig car park in Brisbane Street include 1.1.1, Blithering Roos, Sled, Circus Sublime, Celebrity Stalkers, Gud Fierce and Ipswich punk band Mum’s Tennis Friends.

Ms Smith said a minute’s silence would be marked at 2pm, so attendees could pause to reflect on why they were there.

Sausage sizzles and raffles will be conducted, with prizes including a signed Brisbane Lions jersey.

Entry to the 18+ event is $15, with pre-sale tickets available from Word of Mouth Music in Booval. Doors open at noon.
