Bundle of joy could be a record breaker

ROCKHAMPTON'S Oliver Stock may only be a few days old but has already outgrown his first set of nappies and most of the clothes his parents bought him.

Even dummies for new-borns are too small.

Oliver is thought to be a Queensland record breaker after weighing in at 6.76kg (14.14lbs) when he was born at Rockhampton's Mater hospital on Monday.

Proud parents Ben and Patricia couldn't be more delighted with their healthy bundle of joy.

Speaking from her hospital bed yesterday, Patricia said she had been told to expect an 11-pound baby.

"When they told me he was 14 pounds I nearly fell over with shock," Patricia said.

"The doctor and pediatrician said he was the biggest baby they've delivered.

"Most of the clothes we've bought him won't fit as they are too small so we'll have to do some shopping."

She said it had been a really easy pregnancy and birth, considering his size.

"I had no cravings or morning sickness," she said.

"Apart from being really big and uncomfortable it was my best pregnancy so far.

"You can imagine my caesarean scar is quite big though."

Patricia said there would be no more kids.

"After this one I don't think I'll have another just in case he's bigger," she joked.

"My husband and I are really happy with our family of four."

Oliver, who has been named after his great-grandfather and grandfather, will be a younger brother to Luke.

Both Patricia and Oliver, who will be nicknamed Ollie, hope to go home in a few days.
