NEW mum Bronwyn Collingwood looked to her favourite books for inspiration to name newborn daughter Violet Collingwood.

She said the name was something she really liked and came from iconic series A Series of Unfortunate Events by author Lemony Snicket.

"She's a very content, well-behaved sleepy baby," Bronwyn said.

Violet was born at Ipswich Hospital on May 24, weighing eight pounds, three ounces.

She is the first child for Bronwyn and dad Martin Collingwood.
