Assist to solve attempted assault

POLICE are searching for the driver of a vehicle that almost hit two officers in Redbank early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred after two police officers attended General Macarthur Place at around 1am, following reports of hooning.

While they were talking to the driver of a vehicle they had intercepted, the officers noticed a sedan further down the road turn its headlights off and travel at speed towards them.

The officers in attendance, a constable and senior constable, had to take evasive action to avoid being struck by the approaching vehicle.

The sedan is described as a dark-coloured mid-90s model Holden Commodore.

Investigators are treating the incident as an intentional act by the driver of the vehicle, and are eager to hear from witnesses.

As at 6pm last night, no leads had been uncovered.

Anyone with information should contact their local police station or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
