Ashlee proves Olympic selectors wrong with four medals

CYCLING: Overlooked for the London Olympics, Ashlee Ankudinoff went a long way to making up for that with four gold medals in this week's Oceania track cycling championships in Adelaide.

The 22-year-old Sydney rider capped a great four days with victory in the 20km points race on Saturday night. Ankudinoff also won the team and individual pursuits, and the 10km scratch race, helping the Aussies to 28 gold medals.

Matthew Glaetzer was another stand-out for the host country, taking home gold in the keirin, men's individual and team sprints.

London omnium bronze medallist Annette Edmondson added two Oceania titles to her collection, easily winning her pet event from West Australia's Isabella King.

Edmondson, Ankudinoff and King were all involved in the first-placed women's team pursuit team.

London bronze medallist Kaarle McCulloch, fresh from a 500m time trial victory, got revenge on her younger rival Stephanie Morton (SA) in the women's sprint, defeating the 22-year-old in straight heats.

SA rider Luke Davison picked up two gold medals on the final night, taking out the omnium and the madison with Alex Edmondson.
