Ash Grunwald signs up to make it big in the US music scene
SINGER songwriter Ash Grunwald has hit the perfect opportunity to cement his career in the US and is planning to make the most of it.
Speaking from Canada, after supporting Xavier Rudd's US tour, the Northern Rivers musician confirmed he signed up with The Agency Group, "one of the biggest booking agencies in America".
Ash confirmed that he will be "spending a lot more time in America from now on".
"I had a meeting with the guys (from the Agency group), and we can do anything, from rock, to folk and blues festivals down there. We'll probably go back to the US in the American winter, and I'll come back from Canada in February. I'll probably be in America most of the year.
Ash will be taking his family with him, including wife Danni Carr, also a musician.
"That's always been my biggest impediment to my overseas career is that I really do not like to go away from my family for longer than a couple of weeks," he said. "It should be fun".
We asked him if he will be moving out of the Northern Rivers.
"No, I will not moving out of the area and I will be dreaming of it when I'm away, but I will definitely be away from Australia a lot more".
Ash Grunwald is about to start an Australian tour across Victoria, Queensland and NSW. It could be his last Australian tour for a while.
"It's the only thing booked in Australia at the moment. I really don't know what is going to happen next year. It could be that I don't get back to Australia for a while.
"It's a completely open book. It's probably the first time in my career that the book has been that open".
His upcoming tour will be a sum of his music for the last ten years.
"It will be a similar show that I have been doing in the US, a sum of my career in a way.
"This American thing has giving me cause to reflect on my career and we put together a compilation CD, which made me reflect on my career as a whole, and it's a good time to reflect on what would it be the best show you could play".
The Agency Group manages the bookings for 2000 performers, including Deep Purple, Dolly Parton, Paramore, Nickelback, Guns'n'Roses, City and Colour and Madeleine Peyroux.
It is considered the world's leading independent talent booking agency.
