Art aid for fire victims

LAIDLEY artist Louise Teese is using her creative talent to help Victorian bushfire victims.

Ms Teese has been an active Laidley Arts Society member for the past two years and will be donating some of her pieces to be auctioned on Saturday night to raise money for bushfire victims.

Ms Teese, who will be donating at least two of her artworks, will join a band of other volunteers from the arts society on Saturday night to auction more than 50 creative pieces.

“I have a lot of relatives living in Victoria and although we know they are all safe and well your heart really goes out to them,” Ms Teese said.

“I have donated other things to the cause and I just think whenever there is a tragedy I want to be able to help those less fortunate than myself because I know if I was in a similar situation people would help me.”

The arts society members' work ranges from bold abstracts to delicate watercolours.

There will be plenty of quality art on offer and a chance to speak to the artists and bag an investment artwork or something for that bare wall at home.

The auction will take place this Saturday from 7pm at the Gatton RSL's Veterans Hall.

The society will donate all proceeds to the Red Cross bushfire appeal.
