Arrests over alleged jet ski sexual assaults
Three men have been arrested and released after multiple girls were allegedly sexually assaulted by a man on a jet ski at Altona Beach in Melbourne's west.
Detectives are investigating the sexual assault of four girls aged between 12 and 16 years old on the watercraft at the beach last year.
Police allege the teens were approached by a man on a jet ski at different times who offered to take them for a ride.
The victims were then taken out into deeper waters - far enough that they couldn't see the beach - and allegedly sexually assaulted before being returned to the beach.
Westgate Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives arrested two Meadow Heights men, aged 40 and 37, and a Broadmeadows man, 29, in relation to the matter.
The trio have all been interviewed and released pending further investigation.
The arrests come after an appeal for information over the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl on November 27 last year.
The girl was at the Altona Beach pier with friends when she was approached by a man on a red jet ski about 6pm, police said at the time.
Detective Acting Sergeant Adam Vaughan previously alleged the man rode the jet ski into deeper waters a "significant distance" from the shore and sexually assaulted the girl on the watercraft during the ride.
He said it was a very "traumatic event" for the 15-year-old but she was able to provide police with a great amount of detail to help with the investigation.
Police said the investigation was ongoing and anyone with information should come forward.
Anyone with information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
