Major shake-up for free to air TV

REGIONAL Queensland TV viewers will need to adjust to changes to longstanding broadcasting arrangements taking effect this week.

Regional broadcasters WIN and Southern Cross Austereo will effectively undergo a swap in their respective 30-year supply agreements.

From Friday onwards WIN, operating on Channel 8, will air Channel 10-branded programming such as MasterChef, Offspring and The Living Room.

The WIN Network's local news bulletins will shift to the 6pm timeslot to air directly before Ten's hour-long current affairs show The Project.

Regional viewers keen to watch Family Feud will need to tune in to either of Ten's two digital channels ONE and ELEVEN, which are also moving to the new channel numbers of 81 and 82 respectively.

Southern Cross, which operates on Channel 5, will conversely carry Channel 9's programming such as The Voice, Love Child and the remainder of the NRL season.

Channel 9 programs including the third State of Origin match on July 13 will be broadcast in HD on Channel 50.

Nine's lifestyle channel 9LIFE will also be temporarily unavailable until August in regional Queensland until Southern Cross acquires an additional broadcast channel to accommodate it.

In the meantime viewers can stream 9LIFE online on the 9Now website.

Channel 5 will air Nine's Afternoon News from 4pm, followed by Millionaire Hot Seat at 5.30pm, Nine's Queensland News program at 6pm and A Current Affair at 7pm.

Nine's digital channels GEM and GO! are also moving to the new channel numbers of 52 and 53.

These changes, which may require a retuning of your television, are reflected in APN's weekly TV guide magazine The Guide and all daily listings across our daily and non-daily publications.

The changes do not affect viewers in the Brisbane and Ipswich areas, who receive Nine and Ten's metro television signals.

For more information go to Nine's website dedicated to the change over: nineon5.com.au.
