Anniversary of police deaths

TODAY marks one year since the death of Sergeant Daniel Stiller, who died while escorting a wide load on the Bruce Highway, south of Rockhampton.

Queensland's Parliament yesterday observed milestones since the deaths of two police officers, including Sgt Stiller.

Today also marks six months since the death of Detective Senior Constable Damian Leeding who was shot while responding to a Gold Coast tavern robbery.

Police Minister Neil Roberts paid tribute to the men as he spoke about the latest crime statistics.
