Alcoholic caught abandoning car

AN ALCOHOLIC who has repeatedly driven while highly intoxicated will be off the road for three years but has avoided jail time.

Kevin Michael Tickner, 43, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of liquor or a drug, driving while on a court ordered disqualification and having incorrect registration plates.

Police found a car on Prospect Rd in Lowood with its plates removed and found Tickner walking with another man away from the car.

He admitted to police he was the driver and when asked for his licence said he had been disqualified from driving for two years.

It was his third high level drink-driving charge in five years.

Tickner was sentenced to six months imprisonment with an immediate parole release date.

He was disqualified from driving for 12 months for drink driving and two years for driving while disqualified to be served cumulatively.
