Accused stalker had Taser, court hears

POLICE found a Taser on a man they claim stalked and harassed his former partner.

Justice Peter Lyons imposed strict conditions on Jamie De Gier when releasing him on bail on Wednesday.

Mr De Gier is charged with stalking, using a carriage service to harass and menace, and possessing a dangerous weapon.

The Crown told Brisbane Supreme Court Mr De Gier was accused of stalking and threatening his former partner, including via text messages, in August.

Justice Peter Lyons said Mr De Gier appeared to be going through "emotional turbulence" at the time.

Mr De Gier was released on bail under the conditions that he not contact or approach his former partner.

He must report to police three times a week for the next month, then once a week until his next court appearance.

Justice Lyons also asked for Mr De Gier's doctor to provide monthly updates on his mental health to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Mr De Gier is to face Ipswich District Court on a date to be fixed.
