Accused remains in jail on foot shooting charge
THE man accused of shooting another man in the foot on the Kholo Bridge has yet to even talk to his lawyer about the charges.
Peter James Hartnett, 36, appeared via video link in the Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday.
He is facing charges including torture, kidnapping, acts intended to cause torture, grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm in company, unlawful wounding, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, sexual assault while armed or in company, robbery with actual violence and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon.
Hartnett, a balding, heavy-set man appeared from custody via video, where he told the court he was facing other charges in Beenleigh.
He indicated he had not spoken to his lawyer about the charges that now had him behind bars.
He did not enter a plea or apply for bail.
Hartnett is facing charges after a 28-year-old man was found shot and abandoned in Kholo in July.
Hartnett is charged with assaulting the man, taking him to Kholo Bridge and shooting him in the foot.
The man called emergency services himself and was treated for non-life threatening injuries by paramedics and taken to Ipswich Hospital.
The matter was adjourned until Monday, September 2.
Hartnett was remanded in custody.
