He is facing charges including torture, kidnapping, acts intended to cause torture, grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm in company, unlawful wounding, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, sexual assault while armed or in company, robbery with actual violence and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon.

Hartnett, a balding, heavy-set man appeared from custody via video, where he told the court he was facing other charges in Beenleigh.

The man called emergency services himself and was treated for non-life threatening injuries by paramedics and taken to Ipswich Hospital.

The matter was adjourned until Monday, September 2.

Hartnett was remanded in custody.
