A little taste of Russia
RUSSIAN born songstress Innessa is set to bring her blend of folk and world music to Studio 188 this weekend, presenting a diverse range of catchy melodies along with her beautiful vocals.
Innessa's musical adventure started with a passion for writing poetry as an eight-year-old. Her poetry was filled with vivid observations of her surroundings at home in central Russia.
Within a year, she joined the local choir.
After years of expanding her vocal talents she was introduced to the guitar and by the age of 16 had combined her poetry, singing and guitar skills and started performing her original compositions.
The day she finished university, she packed her guitar and set off to explore the world and the world of music. She has spent time living, studying music and performing on the Black Sea, Moscow, Egypt, Spain, the USA and has now settled in Australia.
Since arriving in Australia, three albums have been released, Innessa, Folkloria and Love-n-Jazz, and she has performed at some of Australia's largest festivals like the Canberra Multicultural Folk Festival and the Woodford Folk Festival.
