Child airlifted to hospital after accident near Esk

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD girl was airlifted to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital with suspected pelvic injuries after being accidentally struck by a car and trailer at Mt Hallen yesterday morning.

The girl was taken to hospital by a Rescue 500 helicopter with injuries that were not thought to be life threatening.

Acting Senior Sergeant Craig Marshall said the incident was the result of an unfortunate accident in a back yard at Mt Hallen, yesterday about 9am, that could have happened to anybody.

The QT understands the girl's father was moving his car when his daughter suddenly chased after it.

"Basically dad had though the four-year-old girl would stay where she was, but she decided to go with dad and has chased the car and has been clipped by the trailer," Snr Sgt Marshall said.

"He knew where she was and told her to stay there because he was only going a few metres.

"She has replied 'yes' and then changed her mind."
