A drunken nap cost this man his licence

THIS man wasn't even driving, but he still got nabbed for being drunk behind the wheel.

Benjamin Noel Sauer, 26, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court today after police found him asleep and drunk in his car earlier this month.

The court heard on January 8, police were called to a Parkhurst, Rockhampton address where they found Sauer passed out in the drivers seat of the vehicle parked on the road with the engine running and lights on.

After officers roused Sauer he returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.125, over twice the legal limit.

Solicitor Allan Grant told the court Sauer intended to walk home, but fell asleep charging his phone in the car.

Sauer was fined $600 and disqualified from driving for three months.
