Mackay miner accused of raping partner's daughter

A MACKAY miner threatened to kill his on-again-off-again girlfriend's daughter if she told anyone he allegedly raped her in her own home.

The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim, has pleaded not guilty to rape, indecently dealing and supplying a drug to a minor between 2003 and 2004.

Crown prosecutor Katrina Overell told the Brisbane District Court, where the man is on trial, the offences happened while the man was dating the victim's mother.

The couple met in Mackay, moved to Brisbane, then back to Mackay and later to Collingwood Park.

In August 2003, the mother, her children and the man were living in Brisbane when the accused allegedly raped the eldest child.

Ms Overell said the victim alleged she was home alone and he asked her to come into the bathroom.

The man is accused of raping the girl before threatening to kill her if she told anyone.

In the same year, Ms Overell said, the mother asked the victim if she wanted to go shopping but the victim declined.

The court heard the accused had told her not to go and pulled his finger across his throat.

Ms Overell said the man then allegedly took the girl into his and her mother's bedroom and raped her.

The court heard the victim screamed for help but the man put a pillow over her face.

The man is also accused of giving the victim marijuana to smoke, which the man said would make her happy.

Ms Overell said a teacher at the victim's school contacted her mother after the victim revealed the rape.

But the victim was accused of lying and grounded, the court heard.

The mother, her children and the accused moved to Mackay in 2005 to live with the accused's mother.

The mother and the accused broke up in 2008 but it was not until 2010 that the victim went to police.

The accused move back to Mackay after the break-up.

The trial continues.
