$700 fine for stolen iPhone

A MAN who pawned off a stolen iPhone for $100 has been fined.

Alexander Lee Fear, 23, pleaded guilty at the Ipswich Magistrates Court to possession of suspected stolen property and improperly gaining benefit.

The court heard on May 5 Fear pawned an iPhone, reported stolen from Riverlink on March 26, for $100 to Ipswich Cash Converters, claiming he was the owner.

He was fined $600 and ordered to pay $100 restitution to Cash Converters.

The phone has been returned to its owner.
