World's oldest turtle travels from Bundy to Mackay
A TURTLE believed to be about 60 years old has been located near Mackay.
The Department of Environment and Heritage Protection posted on social media that the world's oldest tagged flatback turtle travelled from Mon Repos, Bundaberg to north of Mackay.
They said she is spending time at Repulse Bay, just north of the Proserpine river mouth and is expected to keep heading north.
For a human, walking the distance from Mon Repos to Proserpine would take 151 hours, by car it would take 8 hours and 23 minutes.
