310 marijuana plants located

BUNDABERG Police are investigating a marijuana crop found in state forest land south of Bundaberg on Wednesday morning.

Criminal Investigation Branch Acting Senior Sergeant Glenn Cameron said a number of detectives attended the location and recovered 310 marijuana plants.

"The cannabis plants were varying sizes, some from a couple of meters down to seedlings," Act Snr Sgt Cameron said.

"The crop was definitely trying to be concealed in the state forest land and there was some equipment their to irrigate the plants."

Act Snr Sgt Cameron said the crop would be examined by forensic experts and then disposed of.

"Any number of cannabis plants is significant for us and obviously the more we can take off the streets, the safer the community will be," he said.

"It is an ongoing battle that police come across to try to prevent these sort of items within the community and we are doing everything we can to make the community safer."

Act Snr Sgt Cameron said no charges had yet been laid and the investigation was ongoing.

"We are asking members of the public to contact Crime Stoppers if they can provide us with any information to assist our investigation," he said.
