22-year-old charged for ramming 3 cars, including police car

POLICE have charged a 22-year-old man after he allegedly rammed three vehicles including a police car in Fortitude Valley overnight.

It will alleged around 11:30pm police were following a stolen vehicle on St Pauls Terrace when it performed a sudden U-turn and allegedly rammed the police vehicle.

The vehicle then drove off and a short time later collided with two vehicles parked on Wickham Street.

Police were able to corner the vehicle but the driver allegedly reversed and rammed the police vehicle a second time.

Police were able to apprehend the driver without further incident.

Several vehicles were damaged including the police vehicle but no one was injured during the incident.

Police allegedly located weapons including a knife and a flail as well as a quantity of dangerous drugs inside the vehicle.

A 22-year-old Spring Hill man was charged with 17 offences including two counts each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs, serious assault of a police officer, unlawfully possession of weapons and wilful damage and one count each of wilful damage of police property, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, fail to stop a motor vehicle, possession of suspected stolen property and fail to dispose of syringe.  He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court June 22.
