A RANGE of popular Ipswich swim centres will host Australia Day celebrations for residents to beat the heat on the nation's birthday.

Guests will be able to use the pool's facilities for free on the day.

Lucky door prizes will also be up for grabs at each participating venue.

The four centres include Goodna Aquatic Centre, the Rosewood Swim Centre, the Georgie Conway Leichhardt Community Swim Centre and the Bundamba Swim Centre.

2 Fernvale Markets

THIS great community event held each Saturday is a great destination for foodies, as there are a range of stalls selling fresh organic and conventional produce.

The markets also play host to various local artists and designers selling a wide range of unique handmade products.

4 Construction Site

IT'S the last week for families to check out Construction Site - an awesome hands-on experience the whole family can enjoy.

Be your own architect and use giant foam blocks to build whatever you can imagine.

Construct the ultimate cubby house or work together as a team and create your own city.

Recommended for youngsters aged two -12 years. Cost is $3 per person.

6 Australiana Exhibition

ENJOY some great artwork at the Australiana Exhibition of photos and art pieces by Ann Window.

7 Oz Day Squash Challenge

SQUASH fan's will have a great opportunity to see the pro's play with a number of top seeded Australian and international players at this weekend's Australia Day Squash Challenge.

The challenge will include an Open Women's and Open Men's Competition as well as Graded men's and women's events for local players.

8 A Day Out With Thomas

THOMAS the Tank Engine has rolled is rolling into museum for a week of circus-inspired entertainment and activities.

Guests can meet the iconic train, the Fat Controller and friends of Thomas, build tracks in the Thomas Play Pit, take part in circus inspired activities and much more.

The museum is open from 9.30am-5pm.

9 Boxworld Exhibition

It began as one tiny building and has grown to resemble a typical Australian city with shops, high-rise buildings and bridges. BoxWorld is recommended for 2 - 12 years but all ages are welcome.

Cost is $3 per person (children and adults), $10 for a family pass.

Free entry for infants up to 6 months of age.

Admission fee includes all day entry to Construction Site, Ball Run, BoxWorld and associated craft making activities.

COME along to the Ipswich Showplace markets held every Sunday.
