1 Pipe championships

IPSWICH Thistle Pipe Band will host the 2013 Queensland Pipe Band Championships and Solo Piping and Drumming Championships today. Solo competition will take place from 8am, band competition from noon and mass bands at the end of the day. Come along and enjoy the music, competition, Scottish stalls, food, drinks and a licensed bar.

2 Australian Lure and Fly Expo

  • 32 Bankscreek Rd, Fernvale
  • All weekend 9am-3pm

THOSE with a fondness for fishing will be sure to attend this weekend-long celebration of Aussie-made lures, lure making and fly tying. Come and browse old lures, new lures, platic lures, skirted lures, dry flies, wet flies - it doesn't matter. If it's Aussie made then this is the place to see them.

3 Redbank Plains Markets

5 Ipswich Jets

THE Ipswich Jets will celebrate their next home game against Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles with a free kids day. As well as the excitement of watching the Intrust Super Cup sides battle it out on the field, kids can enjoy a jumping castle, face painting and a range of other activities.

In addition there will be a special half-time kicking competition where the prize will be a three-day weekend at Angourie Resort, at Yamba, worth $525. The main game starts at 3pm.

6 Junior Eisteddfod

THE 68th Annual Junior Eisteddfod continues with the competition for the dance group category.

Today will feature performances in hip hop, jazz, ballet and more. Sessions will start at 8am, 1.30pm and 7pm at Ipswich Civic Centre and continue tomorrow with sessions at 8.30am, 1pm and 6pm. Ipswich residents are invited to attend.

7 The Fuchs Winternationals

IT ALL comes down to this. The Fuchs Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway is the final round for the 2012-2013 ANDRA Pro Series, where championships will be decided. The weekend event will include spectacles such as nitro-burning Top Fuel dragsters, the two-wheeled mad men of Pro Stock Motorcycle plus the Rocket Allstars Racing Series, where Australia's best sportsman racers will compete for their last chance at gold.
