The Preservation Station specialises in the traditional restoration of antique and period timber furniture and fixtures. Here, the specific objective is to retain the unique patina and historical value of every object. Sympathetic restoration is achieved by doing “as much as needed but as little as possible” to each item.
Although total restoration is attained, upon completion objects still retain the unique characteristics which reveal their true age. Daily wear, small knocks and dents are what give period items their character; it shows their history over the years and decades. To strip away these signs of age is like throwing away the past and owner Steve Moulds is passionate about faithfully restoring these cherished items using traditional techniques.
Restoration classes are now available so if you’d like to learn how to faithfully restore furniture yourself, enquiries can be made by contacting Steve at The Preservation Station on 3812 3866.
