TWO cousins have combined their know-how in the hospitality industry to open a new Thai restaurant at Collingwood Park.

Andy Tang, a chef who has moved to Ipswich from Melbourne, and Peter Ngo, a successful restaurateur in the Camira and Springfield area for the past 20 years, celebrated the opening of B Thai this month.

The restaurant enjoyed a busy first week - except for Sunday, which Mr Ngo said he was keen to remedy once word got out about his new venture.

"I have been running two other shops in Springfield and Redbank Plains which both serve Chinese food," Mr Ngo said.

"I didn't do any Thai until I joined up with Andy, so this is something new for me."

Mr Tang ran the King Thai Restaurant in Williamtown, Victoria, until October last year, when the local weather conditions got the better of him.

He now calls Augustine Heights home.

"The weather in Melbourne made me sick," Mr Tang said.

"Peter and I have obviously known each other a long time, and the weather up here is much nicer."

For first-time customers, Mr Tang recommended his seafood hot plate dish, which has already been selling very well.
