Bernard Gaynor is running for the seat of Bundamba in Katter’s Australian Party. The former Army officer says he’s ready for any election campaign attacks from Labor or the LNP.
BERNARD Gaynor says that after being in Iraq and the Middle East, he'll have no trouble taking whatever the major parties throw at him.
Mr Gaynor has been endorsed as the Katter's Australian Party candidate for Bundamba.
The father of five said he was an Army intelligence officer until last July and served for more than 12 years full-time and nearly 15 years including part-time service.
"I deployed to Iraq and the Middle East on three occasions and was awarded the United States Meritorious Service Medal for my work," Mr Gaynor said.
"As a former Army officer who has served overseas, it is bitterly disappointing to see that successive governments from both sides of politics have so scandalously sold Australia off and sold Australians out. Like my grandfather who fought in World War II, I was prepared to don a uniform to see that Australia's interests were protected.
"However, I never realised the biggest enemies to Australia are Liberal and Labor politicians who think it is appropriate that Chinese government-owned mining companies have more right to Australian land than the Aussies who own it. I am not afraid to stand up for what is right and know what it is like come under fire. Nothing the ALP or LNP throw at me or the Australian Party will scare me from standing up for the people of Bundamba."
