CASSANDRA Jackson's cosy salon overlooking the Ipswich CBD offers customers a funky 'do in a discreet location.

The 24-year-old businesswoman first launched her Diamond Cut salon at the end of 2010 and, despite a tough first few months which included the floods in early January last year, she has carved out a nice niche.

An increase in business meant the salon took on its first employee - fully qualified hairdresser Klairissa Ruhe - early this month.

"We aim to provide a funky city service that you don't have to travel into the city for," Ms Jackson said.

"We're young and fresh and cater for people of all ages.

"We are a bit out of the way, but I just tell customers to look for the entrance between the NAB and the Cash Store."
