Severe storm warning for SEQ

A SEVERE storm warning has been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology for south east Queensland.

Emergency Management Queensland has advised people should prepare for a severe storm system.

A SEVERE storm warning has been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology for south east Queensland.

The Bureau is warning of possible damaging winds, very heavy rainfall, flash flooding and large hailstones across the south east corner of the State.

The warning stretches across the Ipswich area including the Lockyer and Brisbane Valleys and Scenic Rim region.

Emergency Management Queensland (EMQ) has advised people should prepare for a severe storm system.

  • EMQ has advised that people in the area should:
  • Move your car under cover or away from trees.
  • Secure loose outdoor items.
  • Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
  • Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
  • Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
  • Beware of fallen trees and power lines.
  • For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
