Raw food fans celebrate together

RAW foodie Cara Cavanagh spent Day 34 of her 100-day raw challenge celebrating with fellow raw food enthusiasts.

Ms Cavanagh was joined by friends, long-time raw foodies and newcomers curious about the movement for a picnic at the Kholo Botanical Gardens on Sunday afternoon.

Attendees brought plenty of raw dishes, many of which proved the diet did not limit meal choices.

"We didn't plan it, but we ended up with practically a five-course meal," Ms Cavanagh said.

"We had a lime salad, pumpkin and courgette fritters, tiramisu and a delicious raw berry cake."

"Everyone who was there loved it, and I was really happy with the turn-out."

Ms Cavanagh said attendees ranged from one enthusiast who had been on a raw food diet for 18 months, to a young family who were interested in the healthy lifestyle the movement promoted.

As the title of the diet suggests, raw foodism is the practice of eating uncooked, unprocessed and often organic foods.

The picnic also served as an opportunity for Cara to celebrate making it a third of the way through her challenge.
