Child porn verdict expected today

A JURY has retired to determine the outcome in a child pornography case against a former paramedic.

Hervey Bay man John Patrick Hinder is alleged to have knowingly downloaded 200 explicit images of children from the internet to his laptop.

Two computer experts have given opposing evidence in this week's trial in the Hervey Bay District Court.

Both said they detected malicious software during analysis of Hinder's computer.

The prosecution's witness said the malware appeared inactive and she didn't believe it was responsible for downloading the images and then storing them to different files.

But a second expert, called by the defence, said Hinder's computer history showed websites that had been viewed at a speed physically impossible for a human user.

The jury is expected to reach a verdict today.
