IT'S THAT time of year again, when car companies blow the budget hiring comedians, models and animals to advertise their new models in front of one of the biggest TV audiences of the year - the NFL Super Bowl.
>> Check out some of the front-running ads for the Super Bowl
With a 30-second commercial reportedly costing more than $3 million there is little room for simplicity and subtlety in the ads. Big-name stars and spectacular stunts (and ideally both) are the most common tactics chosen by the car company marketers.
This year's crop includes life-long Porsche fan Jerry Seinfeld plugging a Acura (nee Honda) NSX alongside Jay Leno, Matthew Broderick reviving his Ferris Bueller persona to sell Honda's new CR-V and Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima spruiking for Kia.
The marketing folk will be hoping to enjoy the same success Volkswagen enjoyed last year when its Star Wars-themed commercial became a viral hit on the internet.
Most brands have already revealed the ads on the internet ahead of this weekend's game, hoping to create a reaction on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
Here are some of the already released commercials.
