Agnes has plenty to offer us

THE sheer beauty and the excellent fishing are just two things that keep people coming back to Agnes Water.

The beautiful historic coastal town has some super-sized fishing, but that is not all it has to offer.

Agnes Water/Seventeen Seventy visitor information centre co-ordinator Vicki Templeton said Agnes was a beautiful place with more than just fishing on offer.

"It's a big place for fishing; it's just a beautiful place. It has a magic sunset that people must see... it's such a beautiful place to come visit," she said.

Agnes Water has the best of both worlds with calm waters at Seventy Seventeen and the tumble of the surf.

Ms Templeton said people came from across Australia to visit humble Agnes Water.

With two national parks and a great deal of history, there's not just fishing.

"Agnes Water offers more than just fishing, we are a gateway to the Great Barrier Reef," Ms Templeton said.

"We get 20,000 visitors a year, we are an outdoor activity place."

Not only can people get to do some fantastic fishing but there are other activities such as; biking, learning to surf, horse riding.

"There is an amazing amount of things to do here - it covers everything," she said.

"It's a fantastic place to holiday."

While visiting the area on a fishing expedition, touch-up on history and take a tour to the light station built in 1868.

"People can even wine and dine here, we have great restaurants and accommodation," she said.

"Of course it's a wonderful place to go fishing but Agnes has other things to do also.

"We really have the best of both worlds here."
