EVEN the feistiest of roller derby competitors have a soft spot for Christmas.

Rival Ipswich and Brisbane derby teams will don Santa hats and decorate their Ipswich Showgrounds venue in a festive theme for their final match this Saturday, December 10.

A Very Derby Xmas is the grand final match between the Brisbane MissFits and the Ipswich City Sirens, and will be the decider in a best-of-three competition.

MissFits competitor Eleanor Swiatek, derby name Hell'n'Awe, said both teams were getting serious about the bout.

"We're all keen to get our hands on the trophy," Hell'n'Awe said.

"We are friends (with the Ipswich ladies), but you do what you have to do to win."

Doors will open at 1pm for a 2pm roll-off, with tickets available on the door or for a reduced price of $15.30 for adults and $6.10 for children online at moshtix.com.au.
