Robert Moreton has his model train set, which he started building in 1998, on display at the Workshops Rail Museum on Saturday.
MODEL trains are making a comeback - according to enthusiasts at the Workshop Rail Museum over the weekend, that is.
Model train builders from across south-east Queensland gathered at the Workshop on Saturday and Sunday along with hundreds of patrons.
Train builder Robert Moreton said the popularity of the hobby was again on the rise.
"I think it's having a comeback," he said. "More and more people at getting involved."
The Rail Workshops director, Andrew Moritz, said the weekend had been a huge success.
"We had thousands of people come through the doors over the weekend," he said.
The model train show also included a display from the Grandchester Model Live Steam Association whose display is of a different scale to that of most collectors.
Along with the models there were stalls running on the day allowing people to purchase parts for their sets or purchase starter kits to help them get into the hobby.
