Kids get a kick from Tori's appeal

Year 10 student and Ipswich Football Association member Tori-Lee Jackson has collected more than 60 pairs of boots to send to a school in Tanzania.

FOOTBALL-MAD year 10 student Tori-Lee Jackson is determined to share her love for the game with everyone, even if they live in Africa.

The West Moreton Anglican College student has collected more than 60 pairs of used football boots and 25 soccer balls for a special care package to be sent to the School of St Judes in Tanzania.

The African school provides free education, boarding houses and nutritious meals to more than 1300 children from some of Tanzania's poorest areas.

The 15-year-old said the idea came after listening to school chaplain Reverend Lizzie Gaitskell talk about the needy school.

"I've heard they really like soccer over there, in fact they love the game all over the country," she said.

"So I asked all the players from school and my club team to donate their old boots and they were all happy to do it."

Tori-Lee also secured boots from Brisbane Roar players' Tommy Oar and Elise Kellond-Knight which will be auctioned to raise money to cover freight costs to the African nation.

Tori-Lee, a talented player herself, is a member of the WestMAC Football Excellence Program and hopes to one day play for the Roar and Matildas.

"Both Roar teams were great this year but unfortunately I didn't get to go to many games," she said.

"I'm hoping I can go to more next year if I can convince Mum to take me."
